Police Chief: Monitor Children's Social Media Activities to Prevent Sexual Abuse Victims (Kuala Lumpur, 28 Dec) – The Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin, has reminded parents to constantly monitor their children's activities on social media to prevent them from becoming victims of child sexual crimes. In an interview with Malaysia's Leading News, Razarudin emphasized that sexual offenders are constantly seeking opportunities to target children, often gaining their trust through deception or gifts. He revealed that the Bukit Aman Sexual Offenses, Women, and Children Investigations Division (D11) had previously discovered that some teenagers in Malaysia were attempting to sell sexually suggestive photos of themselves on social media. Razarudin called for parents and the community to be vigilant and closely monitor their children's social media interactions, including checking their online content and the people they interact with. Additionally, he shared that the police, in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), recently arrested 13 individuals involved in possessing child sexual abuse materials. These offenders had uploaded images and videos to the dark web for personal use or to share with others. Police are continuing their investigation to determine whether these suspects are part of a larger criminal group or acting alone.
